Product Details
Why choose the EA 207 DW?
It goes where other machines can't. The cylinder arm opens up a whole category of repair work – tubular, curved and part-made items that would otherwise mean hand stitching or turning work away.
You're in full control. Free-motion darning lets you rebuild a worn area, close a tear or set a patch in any direction. The hopping foot holds the material steady as each stitch forms, then lets go so you can move on.
It handles the tough stuff. Leather, denim, canvas, vinyl and coated fabrics are all in a day's work. This is a heavy-duty machine for a busy repair counter, not a light domestic darner.
It's easy to live with. The servo motor only runs when you press the pedal, so it's quiet and cheap to run, and you can take things really slowly on a delicate or awkward repair.
You're buying from specialists. We've been supplying and servicing industrial machines for over 40 years. Call us before you buy and you'll speak to someone who knows these machines inside out.
Who is it for?
The EA 207 DW earns its place in any business where repairs come through the door every day:
● Shoe repairers and cobblers patching uppers, linings and heel areas
● Alteration and repair shops mending jeans, coats and uniforms
● Leather and bag repairers fixing handbags, holdalls and cases
● Workwear and uniform suppliers repairing overalls and hi-vis
● Canvas specialists mending tents, awnings, tarpaulins and vehicle covers
● Theatre and costume departments keeping heavy costumes in service
A quick word of honesty: this is a repair machine, not a production machine. Because you guide every stitch by hand, it isn't the right choice for making new bags, belts or upholstery with long, even seams. For that kind of work, a cylinder arm walking foot machine such as our Wilcox & Gibbs EA 1342 is a far better fit. If you're not sure which you need, give us a call – we'd rather point you to the right machine than sell you the wrong one.
Information
Some repairs simply can't be done on a flatbed machine. A split in the knee of a pair of work trousers. A worn patch inside a boot. A tear halfway down a canvas holdall. The Wilcox & Gibbs EA 207 DW is built for exactly these jobs.
Its long, slim cylinder arm slides inside sleeves, trouser legs, bags and footwear, so you can reach the damage without unpicking a single seam. And because it's a true darning machine, there are no feed dogs pushing the fabric one way. You guide the work yourself – forwards, backwards, side to side – and place every stitch exactly where the repair needs it.
It arrives on an industrial table and stand with a quiet servo motor, ready to start earning its keep from day one.

Delivery, Installation & Returns
What is a darning machine, exactly?
Most sewing machines use feed dogs to pull the fabric through. A darning machine doesn't – you move the work by hand instead. That freedom lets you stitch back and forth across a hole or worn area to rebuild it, or sew a patch down from any angle.
Why does the cylinder arm matter?
Because most repairs are on things that are already made up. The slim arm slides inside a sleeve, trouser leg, bag or boot, so you can reach the damage without opening anything up.
Will it sew leather?
Yes, it's very good for mending and patching leather. Just pair it with a needle and thread suited to the thickness you're working with.
Can I make bags or sew long seams with it?
We wouldn't recommend it. With no feed, every stitch is guided by hand, so long straight seams are slow and hard to keep even. For making new products, a walking foot machine is the right tool – we're happy to recommend one.
Is it difficult to learn?
Free-motion darning takes a little practice to get your stitches even. The servo motor makes that much easier, as you can sew as slowly as you like while you get the feel for it.
What does a hopping foot do?
It rises and falls with the needle. It holds the material flat while each stitch forms, then lifts so you can move the work freely before the next one.
Can you service it for me?
Of course. Our engineers service and repair industrial machines in our London workshop.
Can I see one before I buy?
Absolutely. Pop into our showroom at 286 Streatham High Road, London. Give us a call on 0208 769 2998 first and we'll have it ready to demonstrate.
